Extracted from seeds like Sunflower, Sesame, Groundnut, Mustard among others, cold pressed oils are essentially extracted without use of heat, thereby retaining the flavor, nutritional value and natural properties of the oil. The process involves crushing seeds to express oil through pressure and is one of the oldest known techniques of extraction. This method was in use several hundred years ago as well, when bullock cart driven ‘ghani presses’ were used. At Barosi, we use the same traditional techniques without any heat to deliver pure, flavourful, fragrant and full of health cold pressed oils.
The bright yellow mustard fields sprinkle the air with a sweet fragrance on dewy winter mornings and we wait for some freshly made puris. Our Mustard oil’s journey starts at the lush green fields. We source the seeds from farms and then use wooden crushers (kolhu) to extract the oil. It’s the most natural, ancient way of oil extraction, the entire process is completely chemical or preservative free, giving you only the purest & most fragrant mustard oil. And the roughage post extraction becomes a healthy meal for our farm cattle!
With its high smoking point, Mustard oil is one of the most nutritious cooking mediums. It neutralises toxins in the body and aids digestion in addition to providing a healthy dose of vitamins A and D2.
